Doris Kearns Goodwin on The 11th Hour with Brian Williams on MSNBC (19 July, 2017)

Presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin joined The 11th Hour with Brian Williams to talk about President Donald Trump on this, his six month anniversary in office. “We keep waiting for that moment when (Trump) will realize that he’s president and has to change — that he can’t tweet at any hour mean things….He’s President of the United States, for God’s sake. How exciting that must be, and yet…now he’s arguing that he has more bills that he’s passed than any president, except maybe FDR. And that isn’t even true, but much less, it doesn’t matter. It’s whether the bills have something to do with the welfare of the people, and they have a standard of whether they’re improving lives of people — not how many you have and some of them are just changing (the name of) a post office. But that need to constantly be competitive to win at every level — you can’t win in the presidency at every moment. No president always wins. They have to go through adversity….He doesn’t think he’s ever been through adversity. So, how is he prepared for this difficulty now?” Listen to more of the conversation here on MSNBC.
