Vice Presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz
ICYMI: Doris was so glad to join CNN This Morning to preview tonight’s Vice Presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz, sharing from her new book for young readers, “The Leadership Journey: How Four Kids Became President,” what she hopes viewers will be watching for—the qualities of “compassion, and kindness and decency” even though attention will be paid, of course, to any zingers, as we have seen historically.
“The reason I wanted to write for young people right now, middle school, is that they haven’t seen leaders that they can really believe in, governments that can work. They’re in a polarized, turbulent time, and I wanted them to see the guys that I lived with, whether that’s Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt or LBJ, developing these qualities when they were boys. They don’t suddenly become presidents; they’re not suddenly on Mount Rushmore,” says Goodwin. Great leadership can be learned and honed.
