On Sunday’s Meet the Press, the panel discussed the backlash over Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s incorrect statements during the funeral for Nancy Reagan when asked about the First Lady and President Ronald Reagan’s handling of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. Listen to Doris’s comments and the conversation on Hillary Clinton’s statement and rapid apology. “(Politicians) all going to screw up at some point or another. And they have to acknowledge it and grow from it and figure out. So, I give her credit for that. I understand why the people were angry though, because that was a huge moment in the AIDS community. And they’re right to be angry,” says Doris, referencing President Abraham Lincoln and his ability to apologize for errors and learn from his mistakes.
