Doris talks about what the country needs in times of crisis with CNN’s Chris Cuomo
Doris joined CNN Chris Cuomo on Cuomo Prime Time to put this particular time in historical context. “The most important thing in a time of crisis is for a president to be willing to take responsibility,” says Doris. FDR’s aide, Robert Sherwood, said: When the American people feel they are doing alright for themselves they do not give much thought to the character of the man in White House. They are satisfied to have a President who merely fits the picture frame. However when adversity sets in and problems become too big for individual solutions the people start looking anxiously for guidance. “They need leadership. They need national guidance. They need a collective response so that they can work together to solve the crisis,” adds Doris. Watch the conversation here.
